The Story of the Sleeping Dove Comforter
How Sleeping Dove came to create its cooling comforter designed for hot sleepers
Like many couples, DJ and James loved to fall asleep snuggled under the same blanket. But DJ often woke up in the middle of the night, overheated at her midsection. Shift the blanket up, then down, too hot, too cold, night after night. Her sleep was a mess. One summer morning in 2023, she walked into the kitchen and said, “What if a blanket had windows?” James looked up from his coffee. That was the moment everything changed.
What followed was a wild and wonderful journey: dozens of prototypes, piles of fabric scraps, and more scissors and measuring tape than anyone reasonably needs. With each version, the comforter got better. Eventually, we landed on a design that worked: open a window to cool down, close it to warm up. A simple idea with powerful results.
We invited all kinds of testers: hot sleepers, couples, new moms, feet-free sleepers, and even furry pets. The response was unanimous. People loved it. Once our patent attorney gave us the green light, we set two standards:
- No tech: Just thoughtful design.
- No shortcuts: Only quality materials, made with care.
We brought in a team of experts to help bring the idea to life with precision and heart. Every detail was chosen for comfort and longevity: 100% cotton, hand-sewn baffle box construction, responsibly sourced down, and recycled fill. The result? A comforter that feels heirloom-worthy, yet modern. One that looks like a traditional comforter, but smarter.
When we finally held the finished Sleeping Dove Comforter in our hands, DJ cried tears of joy, not just because it was real, but because she knew it could help others sleep better too. Today, we’re thrilled to share the Sleeping Dove Comforter with you. It’s more than a product. It’s a love story, a wellness tool, and a reminder that comfort should feel both beautiful, personal, and shared. We hope it brings you deeper rest, warmth where you need it, and the freedom to sleep your way.
