Down Comforter Care
(Spot clean only. Do not bleach. Do not iron.)
Sleeping Dove comforters are loftier and generously sized for fuller coverage. For the down version, spot cleaning is recommended for minor spills or stains. Use a damp cloth and mild detergent to gently clean the affected area. For a deep clean, professional laundering is recommended (laundering only, as dry cleaning involves the use of harsh chemicals). Choose professional cleaners that are experienced in handling large bedding items, know how to properly wash and dry premium down comforters, and use high-capacity washers and dryers.
Down Alternative Comforter Care
(Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. Use a mesh laundry bag when washing. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach. Do not iron.)
Sleeping Dove comforters are loftier and generously sized for fuller coverage. For down alternative comforters, use a large-capacity commercial front-loading washer and dryer only. Bulky bedding needs adequate space and airflow to wash and dry properly. This helps preserve quality and longevity while reducing the risk of fabric damage or scorching.
Folding instructions
- Lay the comforter flat on the bed with the logos at the foot and all four windows closed.
- Fold lengthwise by bringing the right edge to the center and the left edge to the center, then fold in half.
- Fold widthwise by bringing the top edge to the center and the bottom edge to the center, then fold in half again.
- If using a mesh laundry bag, place the folded comforter inside before washing.
Washing Instructions
- Use a front-loading, large-capacity commercial washing machine.
- Add a mild detergent.
- Select cold water and a delicate/gentle cycle.
Drying Instructions
- Remove the comforter from the mesh bag, if used.
- Use a large-capacity commercial dryer.
- Select low heat and add a couple of dryer balls, if available.
- Check periodically and move the comforter around so it dries thoroughly and evenly. Remove promptly once dry to prevent overheating.
After washing, lay your down or down alternative comforter on the bed and allow it a few days to fully relax and regain its optimal loft and comfort.
The Sleeping Dove Comforter looks and feels like a traditional comforter but includes four built-in panels—two at the midsection and two at the feet—so each sleeper can adjust warmth instantly. The panels fold open quietly toward the edge of the bed, while a soft cotton layer keeps you covered at all times. Just place the comforter with the dove logos at the foot and align the panels with your mattress.
Open a panel as wide as you like for natural cooling—even a small opening makes a difference. If you later decide to close the panel, there's no need to worry about it not returning to its exact position; the baffle box design restores warmth evenly for lasting comfort.
Each comforter is made to last, with reinforced stitching, strong thread, and securely integrated panels built for years of use.
Softwing works beautifully for one or two sleepers. Each person can adjust their side independently without disturbing the other. The panels open quietly toward the edge of the bed and stay securely attached, so there's nothing to shift or lose.
Panels are slightly larger for better coverage across the body while maintaining a smooth, seamless look. Closed, they retain warmth; open, they release heat naturally. The Softwing design is thoughtfully scaled for Queen, King, and California King sizes to ensure ideal coverage and performance.
Yes. When closed, the panels rest naturally on you with gravity. You might adjust them occasionally during the night, but it's quick and effortless—far easier than managing cooling systems that rely on fans, water, electricity, or apps.
Yes. The baffle-box construction and balanced fill keep you warm when the panels are closed. The panels rest naturally on your body thanks to gravity, keeping you comfortably covered.
No. We skipped magnets, zippers, Velcro, and engineered fabrics to keep the feel pure and simple. Cooling or warming up takes zero effort.
No. We use a breathable 100% cotton shell with premium down or down-alternative fill—no synthetic or tech-embedded systems.
The comforter keeps you cool with a flat sheet, and even cooler if you prefer to go without. Either way, you'll always be covered by a soft cotton layer for comfortable sleep.
That's completely fine. You can still adjust the panels with small pets on top of the comforter. Most customers tell us their cats and dogs love the comforter.
Sleeping Dove introduces a new design for sleepers, and while it may take a little time to get used to the panel feature, it quickly becomes effortless and intuitive. In fact, most customers find it incredibly easy to use right from the start.
Our comforter comes in Queen, King, and California King sizes. Choose from two versatile colors: white or stone. Both are designed to complement any bedroom style. We're working on releasing darker colors soon.
Each Softwing panel lets you shift instantly from plush comfort to breathable cotton, keeping you covered without overheating. The panels are positioned at the midsection and foot of the comforter—two per sleeper—so you can adjust your comfort without disturbing your partner.
Down: 80% responsibly sourced white duck down for cloud-soft warmth and breathability. Down-Alternative: Recycled microfiber that mimics down's loft, hypoallergenic-friendly and easy-care. Both use baffle box construction for even warmth and the same Softwing cooling design.
Because it cools where heat builds—the midsection and feet—without tech or compromise. It keeps you covered, calm, and comfortable, helping you fall asleep naturally.
For hot sleepers, couples with different temperatures, women in menopause or pregnancy, pet lovers, and anyone who values luxury comfort and natural cooling.
The Softwing Cooling System may feel new at first, simply because it's a fresh approach to bedding. We love how it looks "as is," but you can style your bed any way you like. Pair it with a flat sheet or use it on its own—either way, it will do exactly what it's designed to do: cool you down or keep you cozy.
Wrinkles from packaging are normal. Let your comforter relax for a few days to regain its loft and smoothness. As the fabric settles into its full shape, the panels will drape properly for ideal coverage and appearance.
Regular fluffing keeps your comforter lofty and fresh. If you choose to steam out wrinkles, press the steamer lightly against the fabric and move quickly across the surface while gently pulling on the fabric to help the wrinkles relax.
Lay it with the panels facing up and the dove logos at the foot of the bed. Align the lower panels with the edge of your mattress for the perfect fit. Don't overthink it—it's easy to get just right.
Due to packaging, there may be some wrinkles on the comforter. These will soften over time. If you wish to steam wrinkles out, we recommend using a hand steamer. Move it quickly over the fabric while gently pulling it to help relax wrinkles. After steaming, lay the comforter on the mattress and smooth out the panels as they will set best that way. Use caution when steaming as too much heat may damage the fill. For a quick visual guide, watch our short steaming tutorial videos at the bottom of this page.
Where do we start? The ability to cool specific parts of your body while still feeling snuggled all over, especially at shoulder level. No need for extra layers or searching for a blanket in the middle of the night. The sense of togetherness with your partner from staying under the same comforter and not waking them with late-night temperature shifts. Not having to move your pet just because you're overheating. The softness and loft of the comforter. And the fact that there's nothing to plug in, no devices to fiddle with, and no need for engineered fabrics. Just classic, thoughtful materials that work.
Yes. When an item is temporarily out of stock, you may place a pre-order to reserve yours.

We care about what touches your skin.
The 100% cotton used in the shell of every Sleeping Dove Comforter is certified to the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®—one of the world's most trusted certifications for textile safety.
This means every component, from fabric to thread, has been tested and verified to be free from harmful substances. The certification is updated every year based on the latest scientific research and is carried out by independent labs, ensuring your comforter is safe for even the most sensitive skin. OEKO-TEX® also encourages more responsible, eco-friendly production practices—helping reduce environmental impact while promoting cleaner, safer textile manufacturing.
In short: it's better for you, better for the planet, and just one more reason to feel great under the covers.
Responsibly sourced. Remarkably cozy.
Every Sleeping Dove down comforter is filled with 100% premium white duck down, featuring a high concentration of large down clusters for exceptional loft and softness — a premium standard that delivers more loft, better insulation, and a light, breathable feel. It's what gives our comforter its signature balance of warmth and comfort without the weight.
We care just as much about where our materials come from as how they perform. That's why we use only down certified by the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), a globally recognized certification that ensures the down is ethically sourced from farms that prioritize animal welfare. RDS promotes humane treatment at every stage and strictly prohibits inhumane practices. The entire supply chain is independently audited, so you can feel confident knowing your comforter is made with integrity and care.
With Sleeping Dove, you're choosing comfort you can feel good about—luxurious, long-lasting, and responsibly made.
What Makes Sleeping Dove's Down Alternative Fill High-Quality and Earth-Friendly
Sleeping Dove's down alternative comforters are filled with 100% recycled polyester fiber that's soft, breathable, warm, and hypoallergenic-friendly. With a high insulative value and a plush, down-like feel, this fill provides cozy comfort without added weight and holds up beautifully over time.
It's also better for the planet. The fill is made from post-consumer PET, such as recycled plastic water bottles, and is certified under the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), an internationally recognized certification that ensures recycled materials are used responsibly and sustainably. GRS certification supports low-impact manufacturing and sets high standards for environmental care, social responsibility, and chemical safety. Certified products must meet strict criteria for water use, energy efficiency, fair labor practices, and the avoidance of harmful substances.
By choosing a GRS-certified down alternative comforter, you're helping reduce plastic waste, support cleaner production methods, and enjoy lasting comfort that's both luxurious and responsible.
Your body's temperature plays a crucial role in sleep quality. Naturally, it drops by 1–2°F at night to signal that it's time to rest, helping boost melatonin production and promote deeper, more restorative sleep [1]. But most bedding fights against this rhythm, trapping heat, causing discomfort, and leading to restlessness. That's where the Sleeping Dove Comforter makes a difference.
Designed for targeted temperature control, our patented Softwing Natural Cooling System aligns with science-backed insights on better sleep. Research shows that cooling specific areas of the body can improve sleep efficiency [2]. Our design has two intuitive cooling windows for each sleeper, one at the midsection and one at the legs and feet, so you can release heat exactly where your body needs it. Even when open, a soft, sheet-like layer remains in place, keeping you covered and cozy while allowing excess warmth to escape. This is scientifically useful for many sleepers, including those experiencing hot flashes or central body heat retention [7], or sleepers who struggle with hot feet, a common cause of restlessness [3]. In cooler rooms, keeping the foot window closed can help gently warm your feet, which has been shown to support faster sleep onset [4].
Some sleepers are also sensitive to weight—especially on their feet or toes. Studies show that pressure from heavy bedding on the lower legs can feel restrictive and even delay sleep onset for certain individuals [5][6]. Sleeping Dove solves this with regional weight control: it's carefully designed to feel lighter where pressure isn't welcome, like at your feet, and more substantial where you crave coziness. You stay comfortably tucked in, without that trapped feeling that can interrupt your rest.
Science agrees: personalized temperature and weight regulation improve rest by syncing with your natural rhythms and comfort needs. The Sleeping Dove Comforter is built for exactly that, meeting modern sleep science with a thoughtful design and traditional, high-quality materials. No wires. No noise. Just fine cotton, luxurious fill, and a construction that adapts to your body the way nature intended.
So if you've been tossing and turning, sweating under too much fill or fighting the weight on your toes, it might not be you, it might be your comforter. The Sleeping Dove Comforter is your simple, beautifully made solution to better sleep, naturally.
