Important Note
Comforters, including the Sleeping Dove Comforter, are not designed for frequent washing, as this can compromise the quality of the fill. To keep the comforter fresh and extend its longevity, using a flat sheet is highly recommended. A flat sheet can be washed regularly, helping to protect the comforter while adding a light, breathable layer beneath the window’s sheet.
Down Comforter Care
(Spot clean only. Do not bleach. Do not iron.)
Sleeping Dove down comforters are made with premium materials designed for durability, long-lasting performance, and minimal maintenance. Spot cleaning is recommended for minor spills or stains. Use a damp cloth and mild detergent to gently clean the affected area.
To maintain loft and even distribution of the down, shake and fluff the comforter each morning when making the bed. This helps restore its natural shape and prevents clumping.
For a deep clean, professional laundering is recommended (not dry cleaning due to the use of harsh chemicals.) Professional facilities use specialized washing and drying methods that ensure thorough cleaning while preserving the integrity of the down. For the very best results, a laundry with a high capacity dryer (70lbs+) is ideal.
For additional care tips, refer to the instructions for down alternative comforters.
Down Alternative Comforter Care
(Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. Use a mesh laundry bag when washing. Tumble dry low. Do not bleach. Do not iron.)
SleepingDove down alternative comforters are made with exceptional fabric and high-quality fill. They are machine washable, but most home washers are too small to accommodate a comforter properly. For best results, take the comforter to a laundromat and use a large-capacity commercial washer and dryer. Though not absolutely necessary, the use of an extra-large mesh laundry bag is recommended during the wash. Like all comforters, it’s best to fold the comforter before washing to help prevent tangling and bunching.
Preparing the Comforter for Washing
- Lay the comforter as it would be on a bed, with logos at the foot and all four windows closed.
- Fold lengthwise by bringing the right edge to the center and the left edge to the center, then fold in half.
- Fold widthwise by bringing the top edge to the center and the bottom edge to the center, then fold in half again.
- Place the comforter inside the mesh bag.
Washing Instructions
- Use a front-loading, large-capacity commercial washing machine.
- Add a mild detergent, approximately two to three tablespoons.
- Select cold water and a delicate/gentle cycle to protect the fabric and fill.
- Add an extra rinse cycle to ensure all soap is removed and to prevent detergent buildup.
Drying Instructions
- Remove the comforter from the mesh bag
- Use a large-capacity commercial dryer on low heat.
- Add a few wool dryer balls to prevent clumping, speed up drying, and restore fluffiness.
- Check periodically and remove promptly once dry to prevent overheating.
After washing and drying, shake and fluff the comforter thoroughly, then allow it to relax for 12–24 hours to regain its optimal loft and comfort. Shaking the comforter daily will help maintain its shape and fluffiness over time.
How do the windows work?
- The Window Design
The Sleeping Dove Comforter is placed on your bed just like any other comforter. What sets it apart is the addition of four carefully placed “windows,” two on each sleeper’s side, for targeted comfort at the midsection and feet. For more details, visit our "Craftsmanship" page. - Using the Window System
When you open a window to cool off, you can easily control the cooling area by how wide you open it. Even a small opening provides a cooling effect. If you later decide to close the window, there’s no need to worry about it not returning to its exact position. The baffle box construction helps restore warmth efficiently, maintaining the same cozy comfort as the rest of the comforter. For more details, visit our "Craftsmanship" page. - Sharing the Window System
Whether you sleep solo or with a partner, the window system works beautifully for both. Each sleeper can adjust their side without disturbing the other. The windows open quietly toward the edge of the bed and stay securely attached to the comforter, so there’s nothing to shift or lose. Just simple, thoughtful comfort for one or two. - Window Body Coverage
The windows are thoughtfully designed to be slightly larger, offering better coverage across the natural curves of the body while preserving the comforter’s clean, seamless look. Closed, they help retain warmth; open, they allow for soft, breathable cooling. Window dimensions are adjusted for queen and king sizes to ensure ideal coverage and performance. - No Fasteners, No Fuss
We chose not to use high-tech additions like magnets, Velcro strips, or engineered fabrics, to preserve the comforter’s traditional material structure. Instead, the windows rest naturally on your body using the simple laws of gravity. The window system was created with simplicity and functionality in mind, so cooling off or warming up doesn’t require any effort. - My Pet Sleeps on the Bed
Our comforter works great for sleepers with smaller pets. You can open or close the window as needed. And even if your furry friend is lying on top, that’s okay, a partial opening still creates gentle airflow. No need to disturb your pet to stay comfortable. - Ease of Use
The Sleeping Dove Comforter introduces a new design for sleepers, and while it may take a little time to get used to the window feature, it quickly becomes effortless and intuitive. In fact, most customers find it incredibly easy to use right from the start.
Look and Flat Sheet?
- The Sleeping Dove Comforter on Your Bed
The unique window feature of your comforter might feel unfamiliar at first, but that’s simply because it’s a fresh and innovative approach to bedding. We love how it looks in our bedroom with its gentle blend of classic and modern. While we prefer to keep our bedding style minimal, without adding extra throws or blankets, you’re free to style your bed in any way that suits your taste. Rest assured that at night, the comforter will do exactly what it’s designed to do, cool you down or keep you cozy. - Using a Flat Sheet
We selected premium materials to make the Sleeping Dove Comforter both breathable and exceptionally soft. Like all comforters, it’s a larger item and can be more challenging to wash regularly, whereas sheets are much easier to clean. That’s why we recommend using a flat sheet underneath. The right sheets not only add an extra layer of comfort but also help maintain the cleanliness and performance of your comforter. For the best experience, we suggest choosing breathable fabrics like cotton or bamboo. That said, some customers do enjoy using the comforter without a flat sheet. And when the window is open, this makes the cooling effect even more direct, since there’s only one layer in the window instead of two. Just know that skipping the flat sheet might mean more frequent washing to keep things fresh.
Care & Setup
- Unboxing Your Sleeping Dove Comforter
When you unbox the Sleeping Dove Comforter for the first time, it may have some wrinkles from packaging and shipping. This is completely normal. Allow it to relax for a few days to smooth out naturally. During this time, the fabric will also settle into its intended length and width, ensuring the windows provide proper body coverage while maintaining their best look. We don’t recommend using a steamer to remove wrinkles, but if you choose to do so, mainly target the piped edges of the windows where there is no fill. This helps avoid potential damage, as the fill, whether down or down alternative, is essential to the comforter’s appearance and performance. Hold the steamer at a safe distance from the fabric and move it slowly, taking care not to soak or overheat the materials. Gently pull the edges straight as you go to help smooth them out. For an easier method, lightly mist the comforter with clean water using a spray bottle. While the fabric is slightly damp, gently smooth out the wrinkles with your hands. Allow it to air dry for the best results. - How to Lay the Comforter on Your Bed
We designed the windows to function properly on both queen and king beds, ensuring comfort no matter your mattress size. To place it correctly, lay the Sleeping Dove Comforter on your bed with the window panels facing up and the two dove logos positioned at the foot of the bed. For the most polished look, align the bottom edge of the two lower windows with the end of your mattress. This prevents them from hanging over. Don’t overthink the placement. It’s easy to get just right.

The 100% cotton used in the shell of every Sleeping Dove Comforter is certified to the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®—one of the world’s most trusted certifications for textile safety.
This means every component, from fabric to thread, has been tested and verified to be free from harmful substances. The certification is updated every year based on the latest scientific research and is carried out by independent labs, ensuring your comforter is safe for even the most sensitive skin.
OEKO-TEX® also encourages more responsible, eco-friendly production practices—helping reduce environmental impact while promoting cleaner, safer textile manufacturing.
In short: it’s better for you, better for the planet, and just one more reason to feel great under the covers.
Responsibly sourced. Remarkably cozy.
Every Sleeping Dove down comforter is filled with pure white duck down containing at least 80% down clusters, a premium standard that delivers more loft, better insulation, and a light, breathable feel. It’s what gives our comforter its signature balance of warmth and comfort without the weight.
We care just as much about where our materials come from as how they perform. That’s why we use only down certified by the Responsible Down Standard (RDS), a globally recognized certification that ensures the down is ethically sourced from farms that prioritize animal welfare. RDS promotes humane treatment at every stage and strictly prohibits inhumane practices.
The entire supply chain is independently audited, so you can feel confident knowing your comforter is made with integrity and care.
With Sleeping Dove, you’re choosing comfort you can feel good about—luxurious, long-lasting, and responsibly made.
What Makes Sleeping Dove’s Down Alternative Fill High-Quality and Earth-Friendly
Sleeping Dove’s down alternative comforters are filled with 100% recycled polyester fiber that’s soft, breathable and warm. With a high insulative value and a plush, down-like feel, this fill provides cozy comfort without added weight, and holds up beautifully over time.
It’s also better for the planet. The fill is made from post-consumer PET, such as recycled plastic water bottles, and is certified under the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), an internationally recognized certification that ensures recycled materials are used responsibly and sustainably.
GRS certification supports low-impact manufacturing and sets high standards for environmental care, social responsibility, and chemical safety. Certified products must meet strict criteria for water use, energy efficiency, fair labor practices, and the avoidance of harmful substances.
By choosing a GRS-certified down alternative comforter, you’re helping reduce plastic waste, support cleaner production methods, and enjoy lasting comfort that’s both luxurious and responsible.
It’s comfort you can feel good about in every way.
Your body’s temperature plays a crucial role in sleep quality. Naturally, it drops by 1–2°F at night to signal that it’s time to rest, helping boost melatonin production and promote deeper, more restorative sleep [1]. But most bedding fights against this rhythm, trapping heat, causing discomfort, and leading to restlessness. That’s where the Sleeping Dove Comforter makes a difference.
Designed for targeted temperature control, the Sleeping Dove Comforter aligns with science-backed insights on better sleep. Research shows that cooling specific areas of the body can improve sleep efficiency [2]. The Sleeping Dove Comforter has two intuitive cooling windows for each sleeper, one at the midsection and one at the legs and feet, so you can release heat exactly where your body needs it. Even when open, a soft, sheet-like layer remains in place, keeping you covered and cozy while allowing excess warmth to escape. This is scientifically useful for many sleepers, including those experiencing hot flashes or central body heat retention [7], or sleepers who struggle with hot feet, a common cause of restlessness [3]. In cooler rooms, keeping the foot window closed can help gently warm your feet, which has been shown to support faster sleep onset [4].
Some sleepers are also sensitive to weight—especially on their feet or toes. Studies show that pressure from heavy bedding on the lower legs can feel restrictive and even delay sleep onset for certain individuals [5][6]. The Sleeping Dove Comforter solves this with regional weight control: it’s carefully designed to feel lighter where pressure isn’t welcome, like at your feet, and more substantial where you crave coziness. You stay comfortably tucked in, without that trapped feeling that can interrupt your rest.
Science agrees: personalized temperature and weight regulation improve rest by syncing with your natural rhythms and comfort needs. The Sleeping Dove Comforter is built for exactly that, meeting modern sleep science with a thoughtful design and traditional, high-quality materials. No wires. No noise. Just fine cotton, luxurious fill, and a construction that adapts to your body the way nature intended.
So if you’ve been tossing and turning, sweating under too much fill or fighting the weight on your toes, it might not be you, it might be your comforter. The Sleeping Dove Comforter is your simple, beautifully made solution to better sleep, naturally.
